Welcome to the ESMO project website. Using the search facilities within this site you can look for specific tunes and sources of 17th-century Scottish music. Based on the research work of Dr Evelyn Stell, this comprehensive and user-friendly database will provide access to over 2000 incipits of musical melodies in that era - one of the largest canons of work in Scotland.

This tool is also being used as the basis for a much more fundamental research project in attempting to match melodies using thematic musical data as well as straight-forward title matching.
